Government bodies


The governing bodies of the Pre-departmental Unit are Pre-departmen Unit Council, the director and the secretary.

Pre-departmental Unit Council

The Pre-departmental Unit Council of Architecture is the registered governing body of the Pre-departmental Unit.

The Pre-departmental Unit Council consists of:

  1. The director and the secretary.

  2. All members of the Pre-departmental unit who are in possession of a Doctorate.

  3. All non-Doctoral faculty that are assigned a full time position.

  4. All researchers in training that are assigned a full time position.

  5. Representatives of the rest of the faculty assigned to the unit at a rate of 1 to 4 members    elected by and among this collective.

  6. Representatives of the students from all courses in which the Pre-departmental Unit teaches, corresponding to 13% of the total of council members, elected by and among this collective. The Pre-departmental Unit Council determines the corresponding seats.

  7. All affiliated full time members of the administration and services personnel.

The eligible members of the Pre-departmental Council Unit are renewed every four years, except the student representative, who is renewed every two years, without detriment to the possibility of other partial elections to fill vacancies.

The competencies of the Architecture Pre-departmental Unit Council are:

  1. Choose the director of the Pre-departmental Unit and agree on the revocation.

  2. Discuss the general lines of teaching and research policies of the Pre-departmental Unit and develop strategic planning of the Pre-departmental unit parallel to the University.

  3. Annually approve and evaluate the commitment agreement. In this context, approve the annual plan of teaching and research and propose doctoral and postgraduate programs.

  4. Develop quality systems pertinent to the totality of its activities.

  5. Elaborate and approve the annual report of the teaching and research activities of the Pre-departmental Unit as well as the economic report.

  6. Coordinate the teaching corresponding to the subjects of its competency and approve the basic programs of the corresponding courses.

  7. Propose the needs of the teaching and research faculty positions, prepare the request for summons and propose the needs of the administration and services personnel positions.

  8. Propose permanent members and substitutes that must form the faculty access committees.

  9. Participate in the assessment, accreditation and certification processes that affect its activities.

  10. Issue a report on the assignment of members to other departments, to university research institutes or on the admission of members from other departments.

  11. Appoint the representatives of the Pre-departmental Unit for the different committees of the University.

  12. Authorize contracts and agreements in order to perform work of a scientific, technical or artistic nature, in accordance with the provisions of the Statutes of the University Rovira i Virgili.

  13. Develop a draft of the Pre-departmental Unit Regulations and, if necessary, propose modifications.

  14. Establish delegation committees, other advisory bodies and set their composition.

  15. Plan the use of economic resources, establish general guidelines of the administration and be periodically informed of the decisions of the implementations adopted by the director.

  16. Any other functions conferred by the University Rovira i Virgili Statutes and resulting norms.

Director

The director represents, directs and conducts the ordinary management of the Pre-departmental Unit.

The functions of the director of the Pre-departmental Unit are:

  1. Represent the Pre-departmental Unit.

  2. Coordinate the teaching, research and academic activities of the members of the Pre-departmental Unit.

  3. Assign to the professors affiliated to the Pre-departmental Unit, the teaching given by the centres of the corresponding subjects within the area or areas of knowledge of the Pre-departmental Unit.

  4. Summon and preside over the Pre-departmental Unit Council, and deploy and enforce its agreements.

  5. Lead the administrative and budgetary management of the Pre-departmental Unit, and periodically inform the Pre-departmental Unit Council.

  6. Perform the functional management of the teaching and research faculty in the context of the commitment agreement and the administrative and services personnel affiliated in the Pre-departmental Unit.

  7. Authorize the completion of contracts to perform work of a scientific, technical or artistic nature, in accordance with the provisions of the Statutes of the University Rovira i Virgili.

  8. Any other functions conferred by the University Rovira i Virgili Statutes and those relating to the Pre-departmental Unit that neither the statutes nor the regulations grant to the Pre-departmental Unit Council.

Secretary

The rector appoints, at the proposal of the director, the secretary of the Pre-departmental Unit among permanent affiliated faculty with a full time dedication. The secretary is responsible for the custody of the minutes of the Pre-departmental Unit Council and of the issuance of certificates of the accorded agreements.
